Summarise your career history...
After qualifing as a Chartered Accountant in 1984, I worked in Bermuda for two years on insurance audits. I spent four years in financial consultancy with Touch Ross before joining Cologne Reinsurance in 1991. 13 years later I became CEO at Primary Insurance Dublin, an insurer writing commercial and personal lines of business in the UK. In 2012 I joined Natixis Ireland to wind down their Irish operations, including a life reinsurer. I now act as a non-executive director for insurance and reinsurance entities, and joined Advent Insurance DAC as the part-time CEO in February 2019.
How do you spend your spare time?
I enjoy walking, cycling, gardening, sailing and golf. I'm involved with a charity that takes children with special needs on an annual holiday to Lourdes, France.
What is your most unusual hobby?
A weekly French conversation class, where it really is one step forward and two steps back!
Most people don't know...
I owned and operated an exhibition in Dublin for three years on Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Antarctic Expedition 1914 to 1917.
